Rail Square Mall is a proposed mixed-use commercial development in Mahalapye, immediately south of the Botswana Railways headquarters. The project is a partnership between Botswana Railways and Estate Property Investment (Pty) Ltd, spearheaded by B.R. Properties (Pty) Ltd on behalf of Botswana Railways. ## The planned development The proposed four-storey scheme would provide approximately 8,000 m² of gross lettable area, bringing retail, offices and essential services together in one location. Current plans include: - Around 28 retail shops, an anchor supermarket and dining options. - Office space for businesses and professional services. - A private health clinic and filling station. - Road and intersection improvements to support access and traffic flow. ## Local opportunity The development is intended to expand shopping and service choices in Mahalapye and support local employment. BRP’s project brief estimates more than 200 jobs during construction and 250 permanent roles once operational. These figures remain projections at this stage. The groundbreaking date and leasing opportunities will be announced when confirmed.
